You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step. Martin Luther King Jr.
When a person is grieving, they often lay much of their life aside which may be fine for the short term. But when the months and years go by and procrastination becomes the norm, the stalling can cause us to feel shame, frustration, and helplessness. It can also lead to chronic stress and strain our relationships.
Here’s a couple of tips to help you break away from procrastination:
- Make your to-dos more enticing by giving yourself a gift at the end.
- Match your energy by scheduling your hardest jobs during your peak energy hours.
- Use timers to set boundaries to help you work in short bursts separated by quick, planned breaks.
- Prioritize lists by writing down tasks and ranking them by importance.
